Tyquaez Pickett, born on June 6, 1998, in Ocean Township, New Jersey, displayed exceptional talent in football from a young age. Attending Ocean Township High School, he led the Spartans to a 9–2 record during his junior year, showcasing his skills as a quarterback. Throughout his high school career, Pickett amassed 4,670 passing yards and 43 touchdowns, along with 873 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns, highlighting his dual-threat capabilities.
College Career at the University of Pittsburgh
Initially committing to Temple University, Pickett later chose to play for the University of Pittsburgh. As a true freshman in 2017, he made a significant impact by leading the Panthers to an upset victory over the second-ranked Miami Hurricanes in his first career start. Over the next few years, Pickett’s performance improved steadily. In his senior year, he threw for 4,319 yards and 42 touchdowns, setting school records and earning a first-team All-American selection. NFL Journey with the Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Pickett in the first round (20th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft, aiming to find a successor to the recently retired Ben Roethlisberger. In his rookie season, Pickett started as a backup but soon took over as the starting quarterback.
